I'm here,
time to check in bodymind status.
feeling not bad, but not optimal. I plan to get out later tonight-get
to feel optimal then. I actually heard back from a guy on
itmoonlighters.com about a very rough programming proposal I sent him.
I did enjoy sending him a more detailed email today, even though it
took time. I'm not expecting much- he's looking for a topnotch
programmer, but he'll only pay $20/hr of which itmoonlighters gets a
5-10% cut. so he's probably out of luck- who knows.
was very excited hearing from him, early at work, couldn't concentrate.
Imagine to be able to program in python, make enough money, and have
flexible hours! imagine! It would be like monterey, but with a language
I like, tools I like, and, it'd be my own creation again. (working on
parts of others' projects is nowhere near as fun(?))
so, got food from fairway, managed to buy things so haven't overeaten too much (probably should not have got raisins).
feeling a little less healthy, slightly more chubby than previously--
cats laying around like dead animals.
This morning at the pool, valerie was there, _sara_ was there, andrea was there, rachel was there, and so on.
I had fun with Andrea- she's wearing her cute suit, and I couldn't help
smiling at her (once I realized it was her). And got to talk with her
for a long time, while waiting for sara- did ask for her number. She
didn't tell me, but-
I wonder what's going on on her side. I'm afraid it will be a while
before I would actually spend more time with her, but its good to be on
more conversational terms with her.

I know this can't go, if I were more serious with someone, like sara.
But for now, I think all involved would say this way is o.k.

From Navy Federal: There were several ATM withdrawal attempts made on
6/17 and 6/18. These transactions was denied due to an invalid PIN
entry. The owner of the network, PLUS, charges $.50 for denied
transactions. In an effort to keep costs to the entire membership to a
minimum, the fees are passed directly to the users (you). The savings
account is always debited the denied transaction fee, regardless of the
account that was to be accessed.
I have gotten Slackware 8.0 to successfully install on the SR17.
I used the ide2=0x180, 0x386 line to get it to boot off the pcmcia dvd
PCGA-DVD51. Everything went pretty smooth. I am dual booting with
win2K, so in order to use the win2K boot manager I had to get the image
onto the boot partition using the boot image in /boot. I used the
command:
dd if=/dev/hda2 of=/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1
(/dev/hda2 is my root directory)
since there is no floppy, I mounted the C drive from windows as /mnt/windows
and then copied the file bootsec.lnx to the root part of C in windows.
I then edited the C:\BOOT.INI file adding the line
C:\BOOTSECT.LNX="Linux" at the end of the file.
I used the 2.2.19 kernel (I will soon try the 2.4.5 kernel). So far I
have gotten my Linksys WPC11 wireless ethernet card working using the
pcmcia-cs-3.1.27 and the linux-wlan-ng-0.1.8-pre13 package. The
wireless card works great. I am able to use the dvd player only as a
cdrom at this point as /dev/hde. I got X working using the XFree86
-configure this gives a poor screen compared to the X that I got with
RedHat 7.1. I will get this fixed and post more later. I am also going
to get the memory stick working as /dev/sda. Hopefully more next week.
